Copyright © 2009 - Title Publishing Pty Ltd. ISSN 1033-8470 WELCOME to this special edition of The Production Book! For 21 years we have been servicing and supporting the film & television industry in pre-production, production and post-production and this year we have a couple of new and exciting developments to celebrate with. Firstly, to supplement our hard copy book and th e website we will soon be introducing our very own iPhone app. A version of the book for the iPad will soon be following. We know that many of you are often on location and with these new apps The Production Book will always be by your side. Secondly, we have added a new television section to the back of The Book. While we know that television productions across Australia already use the book regularly we also know that there are different skills and therefore different crew and equipment and this year we have incorporated these into their own section with 12 new TV specific categories. On another note, we would like to thank our Advertising Manager, Leda and our Database Coordinator, Jess who are both sadly leaving us after 4 years on The Book. We wish them all the best in the future and warmly welcome Joanne Bradley who will be coming on board as the new Advertising Manager. We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the following people and organisations for their ongoing support and guidance: Craig Butler, Owen Greenwell, Claire Powell, Ben Akhurst, AFTRS, Film Victoria, Inside Film, Screen NSW,SPAA, Ray Brown, our co-founders Susie Cooke & Marion MacGowan & last but not least all the Crew Agents across Australia! Thank you for supporting us for the past 21 years, good luck & smooth shooting for 2011! ON THE COVER “The idea was simple, the real challenge lay in the execution. My aim was to represent the creative influences and process that are part of every production, so I used fluid dynamics as a metaphor to represent this.Using liquid simulation software I generated approximately 60 million particles from four different locations within a virtual model of the production book logo.As the particles flow around the corridors we see savage collisions, vortices, seething currents, shimmers of inspiration and clarity. The end result... Something I’ve never seen before, something unique.” Paul Butterworth.
